A 'milonga' is a tango social dance. Somewhat confusingly it is also the name of one of the tango rhglossary-tanda.phpythms or musical styles, but here we are talking about the event.

You go to a milonga to dance, but at some traditionally styled events you might find yourself caught up in following a whole lopt of rules and regulations that seem to do little other than get in the way of the dancing.

Not all tango has to be traditional. Tango codigos which may have made sense in 1930s Buenos Aires are less relevant now and can detract from the dance experience rather than support it.
